Dear Parents,

School Store –
We are in need of parent/grandparent/aunt/uncle volunteers to help with the store. We still need a parent to cover either MONDAY, TUESDAY, WEDNESDAY, or THURSDAY mornings from 8:30-9:00. Our class is running the school store from this coming Monday to December 5th. If this is something you can do [or you can volunteer someone!], please let me know ASAP.

Birds of Prey-
Students did a fantastic job on their Birds of Prey Inquiry projects. I was quite impressed with the information collected, and the variety of ways in which students decided to present their research. We had board games, posters, scavenger hunts, and even an interview with a fifth-grader sized vulture! Friday students took their first unit test on Birds of Prey. These tests will be taken home for parent signature and essay corrections. Monday we will be dissecting owl pellets in class! Once this unit is complete, we will be switching gears to Social Studies and will begin with Geography.

Book Reports –
Dioramas, posters, oral reports, story twists, drawings, sandwiches, models, papers, movie posters, board games, and newspapers; I have never seen such a variety of book report choices. The students did an extraordinary job with their first book reports. I look forward to our next reports. For our next reports students are welcome to read a book from a genre of their choice.

Wild Wings & GPS on Birdsong Trail –
Our field trip to Mendon Ponds will be on Thursday, October 9th. Please make sure your child is dressed for the weather. We will be outside for the entire morning. Students will need a bag lunch for this day.

Mime-
Photos from the mime class session will be on the classroom website. Great job Richard in your work with the mime target group!

Homework Club-
Homework club will be on Tuesday of this week. Please have your child bring a note to class letting me know if they will ride the late bus or be picked-up at 4:00pm.

School Photos –
We will be taking our school photos on Wednesday. Please ensure your photo forms are turned in by then.

Trashwalk -
Our class has been invited to join the high school Green Team in a community service trash clean up. On Sunday, October 12th from 1-5pm students and parents are welcome to join the Green Team beginning at the HF-L High School. Permission slips to follow next week.
