VOCABULARY FOR GEOMETRY
Line- a straight path from one point to another
Ray- Part of a line with only one endpoint
Segment- straight path from one point to another
Perpendicular lines- two intersecting lines that form right angles
intersecting lines- two lines that meet exactly at one point
point- single exact location represented by a dot
parallel lines- two lines that lie in the same plane and will never meet
obtuse angle- and angle with a measure of more than 90 degrees and less than 180
acute angle- an angle with a measure of less than 90 degrees
equilateral triangle- a triangle with all three sides the same length and all three angles the same measure
isosceles triangle- a triangle with two sides the same length and two angles the same measure
scalene triangle- a triangle with all three sides different lengths and angles different measures
right angle- an angle of 90 degrees
congruent- figures that have the same size and shape
