In this book you will meet several different characters. The main ones are four girls named Carmen, Tibby, Lena and Bridget. They are all really good friends and this is the first summer that they are spending apart. It's funny how they are so close, because they are all very different in many ways. Also, they have numerous things going on in their lives besides staying in touch over the summer. That's where the Traveling Pants come in. They discover some pants that Carmens mom got from a department store, and oddly enough they all look really good in them. So they decide to mail the pants to eachother every few weeks, and right down an experience on the pants that they've had so far. This works out pretty well, but if you want to find out more about all of the challenges they overcome, you can read this great book!

I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who likes a good read about some friends who are just trying to deal with growing up. I think allot of people could relate to this, because many people might have a similar situation. For example, divorced parents, sick loved ones, and being the only one who's bored during summer.
