Notes
- Send
a written excuse to the nurse after each absence
- Send
notes for any bus changes, forms are available in the office & from
the bus driver
Supplies
- Backpack: a large backpack is
required to transport papers, books, notes and belongings on a daily
basis
- Supply lists are sent home before
school begins, yet may need to be replenished during the year
- Label all belongings
- Smocks: Dad’s long heavy-duty
shirts work well. Please do not label these – we share.
- Toys: Toys from home are only
permitted for show & tell or special occasions as communicated by
the teacher
Snacks
& Lunch
- Healthy
snacks are allowed; each teacher will provide details
Extended day
kindergartners may:
- Bring
lunch from home
- Buy
lunch at the cafeteria (monthly menus are provided)
- Buy
a treat or milk to add to their lunch
- Charge
lunch if he/she forgets their lunch or money
- Please
send money in a change purse or labeled envelope.
Room Mothers are
responsible for:
- Organizing
parties or special events
- Contacting
other parents to help provide treats
- Other
responsibilities at discretion of teacher
Birthday
Celebrations
- Treats may be sent in yet must be
store bought (no homemade treats)
- Healthy treats are encouraged
- Treats may be ordered through the
food service dept. (624-7043)
- Contact classroom teacher prior to
birthday to check the schedule
- Do not send home birthday invitations
through school; we can provide addresses for you
- Please discourage your child from
discussing a home party at school in order to avoid hurt feelings
Conferences
- Sign ups available at Open House
- November (week of Thanksgiving)
- End of January (optional)
- Whenever a parent or teacher feel it
is necessary

Please check your
child’s backpack each day to find information in the
form of:
- A newsletter
- Special event flyer
- Request for materials
- Memo from the office
- PTA information
- Schedule changes
- Personal correspondence
Communication will also occur via telephone, e-mail, and through our
website, www.hflcsd.org
